Hudson man accused of beating wife with baseball bat

HUDSON — A 52-year-old man is accused of beating his wife in the head, face and arm with a baseball bat Friday night.

Timothy Dechard, who had been staying in Tampa, was arrested Saturday and charged with aggravated battery. Deputies say he beat the 50-year-old woman about 11 p.m. after they argued about money and jobs at the wife's home at 16317 Chief Drive in Hudson. Both husband and wife are unemployed, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

The baseball bat had blood on it and the woman had cuts on her arm, and her head and face were swollen, a report states. She refused medical treatment.

Dechard is being held in the Pasco jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
