Impaired motorcyclist caught going 100 mph, Pasco deputies say

WESLEY CHAPEL —Deputies say a motorcyclist with a suspended license was caught speeding at more than 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic on Wesley Chapel Boulevard about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Carlos Luna Mendez has a long record of traffic infractions and his license is "suspended indefinitely," authorities said.

Mendez was drunk, with a blood alcohol level between 0.136 and 0.156, and was on the pain reliever Hydrocodone at the time of the arrest Wednesday, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

State law presumes a driver is impaired with a blood alcohol level of 0.08.

Mendez, of 24945 Ravello St. in Land O'Lakes, was charged with reckless driving, fleeing to elude, DUI and several other traffic charges.

He's being held without bail at the Pasco jail.
