Boy, 17, accused of sex crime at high school
A 17-year-old Lakewood High School student was arrested Tuesday in connection with a sex crime that occurred on campus.
The boy and a 14-year-old girl, who is also a student, met in private on campus Tuesday "and she alleged that he went a little bit too far," said St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt.
The girl reported the incident to a school resource officer.
The boy was arrested on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery, police said. His name was not released. The two were acquainted and were in the beginning of a relationship, Proffitt said.
