Man, 71, charged in road rage incident

A 71-year-old man was arrested in a road rage incident after authorities say he badgered and struck a teen driver who cut him off.

Robert Finklea told deputies the silver Ford Focus nearly ran him off the road Thursday afternoon, so he followed the driver to the Publix parking lot at State Road 54 and Sunlake Boulevard. Finklea pulled right up to 18-year-old Robert Kay and began yelling at him, then hit the teen's foot with his tire, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office report said.

Kay slammed the roof of Finklea's gray Buick LeSabre. The retiree got out of his car and yelled at the teen, who pushed Finklea away, the report said. A witness stepped in to separate the two until deputies arrived.

Finklea, of 3104 Donington Castle Lane, was charged with aggravated battery and was released from the Land O'Lakes jail on $5,000 bail.
