LAND O'LAKES — Ronald Carl Spencer Jr. had been having some trouble with the neighborhood kids. So about 5 p.m. Thursday, the 38-year-old took out a rifle with a wooden stock and a black barrel and threatened to shoot four teens, according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.
The teens told deputies they ran and hid in the bushes and were "in fear for their lives," the report said. "All four juvenile victims stated they could not stop shaking … because they were so scared," the report said.
The gun actually was an air rifle, and Spencer told deputies he brandished the weapon "only to scare them," the report said.
Spencer was charged with four counts of aggravated assault. He remained Friday at the Land O'Lakes jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
