Land O'Lakes man accused of trying to 'beat the defiance' out of 1-year-old

LAND O'LAKES — Pasco deputies arrested a man accused of striking a 1-year-old girl repeatedly.

A witness told deputies the child was playing in the kitchen when David Neymour, 30, grabbed her by the hand and slapped her arm several times "with all his might, it was so frightening," according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. Deputies said Neymour picked the girl up and "dragged" her to the living room, where he hit her other arm harder than before. He is also accused of slamming the little girl onto her bottom on the living room floor.

The witness told deputies she tried to intervene, but Neymour replied, "I'm going to beat the defiance out of her." The witness said the toddler, who was crying, began to hyperventilate, and the witness took the child, ran outside and called 911.

Deputies reported marks on the victim's arms that corroborated the witness' story.

Neymour was arrested Tuesday on a charge of child abuse. He was released from the Land O'Lakes jail on $5,000 bail.
