Largo assisted-living facility worker accused of hitting resident

LARGO — An assisted-living facility employee accused of hitting a 93-year-old patient was arrested Thursday, police said.

Linda Pullen Batrin, 54, was assigned to care for a woman diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at Pinecrest Place in Largo on July 11 when a supervisor saw her grabbing the patient by the front of her shirt, tipping her chin up and insulting her. After releasing the patient, Batrin slapped her in the face, an arrest affidavit shows.

Batrin later admitted to Largo police she hit the patient, attributing her anger to an argument she had with her boyfriend about money before heading to work, according to the affidavit.

Batrin faces a charge of battery on a person 65 years of age or older.

She was booked into the Pinellas County jail, but was released early Friday on $5,000 bail.
