Largo man, 69, accused of sexually assaulting 15-year-old boy

LARGO — A 69-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy at the man's Largo home, police said.

Brian C. Beesley, a resident of 4 West Palm Forrest Drive, faces charges of lewd and lascivious battery, lewd and lascivious molestation and unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

According to Largo police spokesman Lt. Mike Loux, Beesley had befriended the boy over the past year. On numerous occasions, Beesley invited the boy to his house, where he had the boy watch pornography and had sexual contact with him, the arrest report said.

Beesley was not a member of the boy's family, Loux said. Police are not releasing information about how the crime was reported to protect the privacy of the victim, he said.

After his arrest, Beesley told police that he was "trying to be a friend" to the boy, according to the arrest report.

Beesley was being held Thursday afternoon at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail.
