Largo man accused of having sex with underage girl

A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on accusations that he had sex with a 14-year-old girl, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Matthew A. Lopez, of Largo, faces a charge of lewd and lascivious battery.

The Sheriff's Office began investigating June 11 after the girl told her mother that she and Lopez had sex in Oldsmar.

Detectives met with Lopez Tuesday and he admitted to the allegations, authorities said.

Lopez was booked into the Pinellas County jail, where he remained Tuesday in lieu of $10,000 bail.
