Largo man punches mom when she won't surrender Visa card, police say

LARGO — A 25-year-old Largo man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a charge of domestic battery after police say he punched his mother in the face.

According to an arrest report, Christopher A. Rech and his mother, Patricia Kennison, were arguing in their home at 703 24th St. at about 1 p.m. Wednesday. His mother had refused to let him borrow her Visa credit card to make a car payment.

During the argument, Rech punched Kennison three times around her left eye, causing a visible injury, the report said. He also grabbed her arm and tried to prevent her from running out the door and finding a neighbor to call police.

When Largo police arrived, Rech said he and his mother had been arguing, but he told police he did not punch or grab her.

Rech was being held Thursday afternoon at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
