Largo mobile home worker charged with child sex abuse

A 59-year-old mobile home park worker has been arrested on charges of sexual battery on a child less than 12 years old.

Daniel William Helms, a resident and employee of the Buckeye Mobile Home Park on Donegan Road in Largo, was arrested Monday by the Largo Police Department, Pinellas County Jail records show.

According to an arrest affidavit, Helms confessed to having sexual intercourse with the victim.

The sex acts took place "in multiple locations throughout Pinellas County," but the victim did not initially report them "due to threats made by the defendant," the arrest affidavit states.

A woman who answered the phone Tuesday at the Buckeye Mobile Home Park declined to comment.

Further information was not available from police.
