Largo police searching for sexual battery suspect

LARGO — Police were searching Tuesday for a man accused of raping a woman in Taylor Park on Monday.

A woman in her 60s told police she was approached by a man in the southwest corner of the park at 1100 8th Ave SW. He forced the victim into a secluded area and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Officers describe the man as weighing about 225 pounds with a muscular build and between 5-feet-10-inches and 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing dark-colored pants and a light-colored shirt, as well as a hat.

Police were still trying to identify the suspect Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call detective B. Arlington at (727)587-6730.
