LARGO — A 22-year-old man accused of driving a lawn mower into another man upset about his damaged plants was arrested Thursday, police said.
William R. Cassie was driving a lawn mower in a Largo mobile home park about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when a resident became upset at Cassie because he did not want his front lawn trimmed and his plants were damaged, according to an arrest affidavit.
The resident confronted Cassie while the lawn mower was still running. Cassie later told Largo police the resident pushed him, causing his foot to slip from the brake and propelling the lawn mower forward into the resident, who sustained several cuts on his arms and shins, according to the affidavit.
The resident's name and address were not listed in an arrest affidavit.
Cassie faces a charge of aggravated battery on an elderly person.
He was booked into the Pinellas County jail, where he remained Friday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
