Lithia pair faces child neglect charges

LITHIA — A Lithia pair faces child neglect charges after the mother of four children was spotted walking with two of them near 1:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies said Leeanna M. Williams, 25, of 1832 Boyette Road, was wandering northbound on the road with two small children. A car swerved to avoid them.

When questioned, Williams was slurring her words, smelled of alcohol and had trouble with her balance, deputies said.

Two other children were at home unattended and within an arm's reach of alcohol and prescription drugs, they said.

Williams faces four counts of child neglect. She was released after posting $8,000 bail.

A man who lives at the house, Dustin J. Bennett, 31, who was not home at the time, has previously been arrested on child neglect charges and is on felony probation, records show. He faces three counts of child neglect and was held without bail.
