Pinellas Park police have arrested a man they say beat and bit a baby nearly to death after a weeklong search for the suspect.

Glen Franklin Neal Jr., 31, has been charged with attempted murder. Police arrested him Sunday, though the details of the arrest were not yet available.

Investigators said he left an 11-month-old boy with a severe head injury and bleeding on the brain while caring for the child in the child's home.

Officers first responded to All Children's Hospital on July 5, according to police, and determined that Neal kicked, punched and bit the child.

Pinellas Park authorities said further details, including the baby's condition, will be released today.

Neal was in state prison for several months between 2009 and 2010, corrections records show. Police said his criminal history includes charges of child neglect, cocaine possession and fleeing arrest.
