Man accused of molesting disabled teen boy in Sand Key Park

CLEARWATER — A 71-year-old man accused of molesting a disabled teenager at Sand Key Park was arrested Tuesday.

Robert Eugene Mullins faces a charge of lewd and lascivious battery of a disabled person, Clearwater police said.

According to police, the 16-year-old victim's father left him alone for a short time. The victim, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, was then approached by Mullins. He molested the boy until witnesses on the beach noticed what was happening, police said.

The father, who was visiting with his family from Germany, called police.

Mullins told police he lives in Gettysburg, Pa., but police say he lived in Largo earlier this year.

He was booked into the Pinellas County jail, where he remained Wednesday in lieu of $10,000 bail.
