Man accused of molesting Hernando teen

SPRING HILL — Hernando authorities have accused a man just days away from leaving the county of molesting a 14-year-old girl in Spring Hill.

Omar Mojica-Paz, 25, was charged with a felony, according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report. After his arrest, he told authorities he had already bought plane tickets to fly to Puerto Rico — his birthplace — on Tuesday.

The report said Mojica-Paz touched and kissed the girl while she lay in bed, adding that the man later told her he had to leave because he didn't want the girl's father to come home and catch him in her bedroom.

Mojica-Paz admitted to deputies that he touched and kissed the girl as he laid in bed with her, the report said. Because they feared he was a flight risk, authorities asked that he be held without bail.
