Man accused of sexually battering teen girl

SPRING HILL — Hernando County sheriff's deputies have arrested a Spring Hill man on a count of sexual battery involving a teenage girl.

Aaron James Beam, 26, is accused of fondling the teen while she slept in a bed at his house Saturday, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said. The girl told deputies that even after she left the room, Beam followed and continued to entice her to have sex with him.

Deputies said the girl told them she was scared because Beam had abused her in the past. According to the arrest report, Beam was "in a position of familial authority" over the teen.

Beam was arrested Saturday and remained in custody Monday at the Hernando County jail with no bail. His court hearing has been set for Jan. 20.

Beam has faced criminal charges before in Hernando and was convicted on charges of child abuse in February 2003.

He was sentenced to two years of probation. A year later, Beam was charged with violating his probation and sent to jail for 73 days.
