LEALMAN — A man accused of brutally beating another with a chain last month was arrested Wednesday, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

Phosy Kongmanichanh, 29, beat James Federighi, 61, at 3550 58th Ave. N on Dec. 12.

Federighi sustained serious injuries to his head. The sheriff's office later released surveillance video that captured the beating, which led to tips that helped identify the attacker, deputies said.

On Wednesday, Kongmanichanh arrived at the sheriff's office to be interviewed, where he admitted to committing the crime, deputies said. Kongmanichanh told detectives he beat Federighi because he made "ethnic remarks" to him as he passed by on a scooter.

Kongmanichanh faces an aggravated battery charge.
