DADE CITY – A man was arrested Friday after deputies say they found in his home several signs pointing toward cock-fighting.

Deputies went to Mario Perez Rodriguez's home at 36743 Elm Ave. on June 18 to serve a search warrant. Inside was a platoon of roosters all in separate cages, according to a Pasco Sheriff's report. The roosters had altered spurs, their crowns and waddles since pruned. Medication, game bird magazines, cock fighting video tapes and 55 fighting spurs were found in the home.

Rodriguez, 57, was arrested on a charge of fighting animals. He remained in the Land O'Lakes jail Monday in lieu of $315,000.
