OLDSMAR — An 18-year-old Oldsmar man was arrested Wednesday night after Pinellas County sheriff's deputies say he tried to run his mother off the road.

Matthew Curr faces felony charges of aggravated assault with a vehicle and criminal mischief and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest without violence.

It's unclear what started the incident, but the arrest report says Curr, driving an older sport utility vehicle, was chasing his mother's car around Oldsmar at about 8:20 p.m.

When the chase reached the intersection of Tampa Road and Sunflower Avenue, Curr tried to force his mother, Sheila Curr, off the road and into a ditch, the arrest report said.

She hit the brakes, and tried to get away by making a U-turn. But Matthew Curr sped around and tried to hit her again, the arrest report said.

Matthew Curr is in the Pinellas County Jail without bail for the aggravated assault charge.
