HILL 'N DALE — Hernando County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 27-year-old man who had barricaded himself in a shed for several hours Monday afternoon.
At about 2:20 p.m., deputies were called to 6387 Raley Road to find Andrew Raymond Vaughn-Elliott, who was wanted in a felony domestic violence case from earlier that day. When deputies arrived, Vaughn-Elliott claimed he had a handgun and got on the roof of the residence. As additional deputies arrived and took up tactical positions, he moved to a shed and barricaded himself inside.
Member's of the Crisis Response Team negotiated with him for the next few hours, according to the Sheriff's Office. He refused to come out and referenced "suicide-by-cop," according to the Sheriff's Office.
Shortly before 5 p.m., several deputies and a K-9 team entered the shed. The suspect was bitten by a dog and a deputy deployed a Taser.
Vaughn-Elliott was taken into custody and hospitalized for dog bites.
