Man arrested in connection to Tampa bank robbery

TAMPA — Police arrested a Tampa man Monday after they say he robbed a bank at gunpoint in late July.

Jonathan L. Worth, 46, faces charges of armed bank robbery. He is being held without bail at the Hillsborough County Jail.

Here's what police say happened:

On July 26, about 1:30 p.m., Worth walked up to a BB&T bank at 4144 N Armenia Ave.

Armed with a handgun and wearing a stocking on his head, Worth approached a teller and yelled, "Hurry up and give me my money!" He took an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot.

On Monday, officers received a tip that Worth was returning to a spot near the scene to pick up something he had left.

Police found clothing and car keys they believe were used during the robbery.

A clerk positively identified Worth and he was arrested.

Worth appeared to shake his head in disbelief Tuesday as Circuit Judge Walter Heinrich listed the evidence against him during his court appearance.
