Man arrested in east Tampa shooting that injured two teens, one of them pregnant

TAMPA — A 21-year-old man who turned himself in Tuesday night faces charges in connection with a shooting that injured two teenagers, including one who was pregnant.

Quinton Terrell Thompson showed up at a district police station with his mother and surrendered, Tampa police said. He was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery.

The shooting Sunday night at Jackson Court Apartments, 3800 Lowry Court in east Tampa, is still under investigation.

Tawanna Williams, 18, who was eight months' pregnant, was shot in the lower back. She delivered a baby boy about midnight Sunday after an emergency Caesarean section. Both were expected to survive, according to Showana Mitchell, an aunt.

James Wade, 15, was shot in the left calf.

Thompson was being held without bail.
