Man arrested in investigation of 20 burglaries

PORT RICHEY — A man was arrested Sunday after, deputies say, he burglarized 20 homes in the Regency Park subdivision since March.

At least twice, Pasco Sheriff's reports state, Shawn Culver crept into women's homes and snatched purses while their owners slumbered in nearby bedrooms.

With all the reports coming in, deputies staked out the neighborhood Friday night. Around 11 p.m., they saw a figure in a gray T-shirt and camouflage pants lurking between houses. Deputies gave chase but lost the trail.

Tips from a neighborhood check led detectives to Culver's home at 7814 Chalafonte Drive early Sunday morning where they arrested him. Culver, 42, is charged with five counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling, obstructing an officer without violence and prowling. He remained at the Land O'Lakes jail Monday in lieu of $100,155 bail.
