LARGO — A St. Petersburg man faces an attempted murder charge after he stabbed a person several times during an argument early Wednesday, according to police.
Daniel Carlin Costello, 23, was drinking with his ex-girlfriend and another person at about 1:15 a.m. in a Largo home when an argument started, police said. Costello was trying to intervene between the other two when the victim hit him in the face and demanded that he leave the house.
When Costello refused to leave, the victim fled, police said. Costello then grabbed a knife and moved outside, where he stabbed the victim, according to an arrest report.
A medical helicopter took the victim, who suffered life threatening wounds, to Bayfront Medical Center, police said.
Authorities did not release the victim's identity.
Costello was booked in the Pinellas County Jail on a charge of attempted first degree murder and held without bail.
