Man charged with flying into TIA to have sex with 12-year-old girl

TAMPA — Airport police arrested a Washington state man accused of flying to town Wednesday night to meet a 12-year-old girl for sex, according to the U.S. attorney's office.

Michael Goddard, 51, of Bellingham, Wash., had been chatting online with an undercover agent for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement since August about having sex with her and her made-up daughter, said a release from prosecutors.

He arrived at Tampa International Airport on Wednesday and was arrested immediately. Prosecutors filed a federal complaint against him.

Since 2003, ICE has arrested more than 12,000 people through Operation Predator, an nationwide investigation that targets those who prey on children.
