Man extradited from Oklahoma on Pasco sex abuse, molestation charges

HOLIDAY — A 50-year-old man accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl multiple times has been arrested in Oklahoma and extradited to Pasco County.

The case against Anthony McWhirter began in October 2006, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in April 2007, said Pasco sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll. The alleged abuse happened in Holiday, Doll said. McWhirter was nowhere to be found and remained on the lam these past years. Doll said the Sheriff's Office got a tip in late September that McWhirter was living in Oklahoma. He was arrested by local authorities and was booked into the Pasco jail Wednesday.

He is charged with sexual battery by a person over 18 on a victim under 12, lewd and lascivious battery and lewd and lascivious molestation by a person over 18 on a victim under 12. McWhirter, who was living in Wewoka, Okla., is being held at the Pasco jail in lieu of $175,000 bail.
