Man found dead near Moon Lake Road in Pasco County

NEW PORT RICHEY — Pasco County sheriff's deputies are investigating as a homicide a body found on the shoulder of Moon Lake Road on Wednesday morning.

A passerby found the body of Antonio Rangel, 20, just before 8 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol were originally investigating the case together as it was thought to be a hit-and-run. But medical examiners at the scene ruled out a traffic incident and called it a suspicious death.

A cause of death has not been released.
