Man robs Gibsonton gas station at gunpoint

GIBSONTON — Deputies are looking for a man who robbed a gas station with a double-barreled shotgun Monday evening, according to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.

On Monday about 6:15 p.m., the armed man entered the Chevron gas station at 10920 U.S. 41 S wearing a blue stocking over his face.

He demanded money from the clerk, fired one round into the ceiling and pointed the gun at the clerk, deputies said. The clerk handed over cash to the robber, who then fled.

The robber was described as 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, wearing a black "doo rag," latex gloves and light-colored slacks, deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-873-8477.
