CLEARWATER — A man who was stabbed as he confronted burglars inside his apartment Wednesday was released from the hospital later that night, Clearwater Police said.
About 4 p.m., the man, whose name was not released, came back to his residence at the Turnbury apartments, 25350 U.S. 19 N. When he opened his door he saw a man digging through his closet, police said.
The startled intruder turned around and stabbed the victim with a knife taken from the apartment, police said.
Police believe two men were involved with the burglary. They had apparently planned to steal the victim's electronics, as they were piled by the front door, police said. The knife used in the stabbing was also used to cut wires to the electronic devices, and was left behind at the scene.
The victim was flown to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg and released about 10 p.m.
Police were still searching for the burglars late Wednesday night.
