Man stabbed in November Hillsborough road rage incident dies

TAMPA — A man who was stabbed with an ice pick during a road rage incident last month died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital, authorities said.

Adelson Wathson, 20, was stabbed in the head during a Nov. 21 confrontation with Alcisviades Polanco, 62, on Manhattan Avenue.

Polanco was not charged after the incident, which authorities were investigating to see if it might fall under Florida's "stand your ground" law. That law says that anyone not committing a crime can use deadly force if he feels threatened with death or great bodily harm.

Deputies said the incident started when Polanco cut off Adelson in traffic. Adelson sped around Polanco and stopped his car. Adelson got out and walked toward the older man. The argument became physical, deputies said, and at some point Polanco grabbed an ice pick he had in his car and stabbed Adelson.
