Michigan homicide suspect arrested in Clearwater

A man being sought in connection with a fatal shooting in Michigan was arrested early Saturday in Clearwater, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's SWAT team searched a house at 1332 Overlea St. at 1:45 a.m. and arrested Alex J. Parker Jr., of Flint, Mich. Parker, 27, is accused of shooting two men, one fatally, earlier this month in Flint. Parker shot the men in retaliation because one of them had shot him several weeks earlier, according to authorities in Michigan.

Invesigators developed information that led to the Clearwater house and put it under surveillance. They spotted a man who resembled Parker as well as a rental car with a Michigan license plate, the Sheriff's Office said. Parker was arrested without incident after he was found hiding under a bed. He is charged with homicide and attempted homicide. Four women and nine children were also in the home. Their relationship to Parker, if any, was not immediately known.
