More charges were filed Wednesday against a Pinellas Park man arrested Tuesday after authorities said he stole cash from stores across Pinellas County while wielding a knife.
Michael Roger Bourdeau, 45, is accused of robbing at least five stores in a two-day series of crimes in Oldsmar, Largo and Clearwater. He made his getaways, deputies said, in a stolen gold Mercury Grand Marquis.
By Wednesday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, he was charged with five counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault with a vehicle, resisting an officer with violence, fleeing and eluding a police officer, three counts of burglary, carrying a concealed weapon and two counts of forgery. He remained in the Pinellas County Jail with bail set at $90,500.
Clearwater police said Bourdeau will also be charged with the April 6 burglaries of Frenchy's South Beach Cafe on Gulfview Boulevard and Frenchy's Salt Water Cafe on Poinsettia Avenue on Clearwater Beach.
Between Monday and Tuesday afternoon, employees in stores in Largo, Clearwater and Oldsmar were confronted by a man they said was 6 feet tall, 250 pounds and wielding a culinary knife.
On Monday, Largo police said, Bourdeau entered Tony's Shoe Repair on Indian Rocks Road, showed a knife and fled with an unspecified amount of cash.
Less than an hour later, according to Largo police, he entered the Off the Rack thrift store on Ulmerton Road with a knife. The robber took about $600, the store owner said, and fled in a gold car.
On Tuesday, he is accused of holding up Sun Country Cleaners on Tampa Road in Oldsmar and a BP gas station on Ulmerton Road in Largo, authorities said.
According to Clearwater police, Bourdeau used a "large knife" to rob Blew Chocolate hair salon on Drew Street on Tuesday, fleeing in a gold Marquis.
Pinellas deputies found a car fitting the description in Dunedin.
Deputies said Bourdeau ran the car into a cruiser before he was arrested.
