PINELLAS PARK — Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School was evacuated Thursday morning after a bomb threat was discovered inside the building.
A Pinellas Park Police officer assigned to the school was alerted to a note found around 10 a.m. in one of the school's bathrooms. The note, police said, indicated there was a bomb in the building set to go off at 3 p.m.
Students were immediately evacuated to the football stadium at Pinellas Park High School while law enforcement conducted a sweep of the school.
After searching for nearly four hours, police concluded there was no bomb on school grounds.
Students were permitted to re-enter the building just before 2 p.m.
Police hoped to use the note to pinpoint a source, but no suspects had been identified by midday Thursday.
