Motorcyclist dies in Plant City hit-and-run

PLANT CITY — Deputies are investigating a Saturday night hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist dead and his passenger in critical condition.

At about 11 p.m., deputies said they were called to Wilder and Quail Oaks roads after someone driving a Ford Expedition turned in front of a motorcycle driven by Roger Chesteine.

Chesteine, 55, was driving the 1981 Yamaha southbound on Wilder Road when the motorcycle hit the front of the suspect's SUV. Chesteine, of 2702 N Wilder Road, died at the scene. His passenger was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Deputies said Sunday they had not been able to identify her or speak with her yet.

The driver of the Expedition fled. Witnesses described the vehicle as blue-green with visible front-end damage, deputies said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
