TAMPA — A motorcyclist died Wednesday after crashing into a car on Waters Avenue at Otis Avenue.
The unidentified rider was seen driving at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of eastbound traffic on Waters just before 5 p.m., according to Tampa police.
The driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser, who was pulling out of a parking lot into the street, told investigators that there was no way of seeing the motorcyclist coming over a small hill.
Pieces of the motorcycle were scattered along Waters Avenue following the collision, which threw the rider several hundred feet, Tampa police said.
Police are still investigating, but say the motorcyclist's speed may have been a factor.
All lanes of Waters Avenue are closed between N Boulevard and N Dexter Ave.
