New Port Richey woman accused of boosting electric shopping cart

PORT RICHEY — Deputies say Tara Dawn Crozier stopped only to cash a Western Union check on Friday before she steered an electric shopping cart out of the Publix's automatic doors. She rode past the outer reaches of the store's parking lot then off into the sunset.

An employee called deputies, who watched the shopping cart on surveillance video at 7037 Ridge Road, a Pasco Sheriff's report states, then went to track her down.

They found the cart an hour later, abandoned at a street corner a mile away. Crozier, 38, was one street away, hiding in an abandoned trailer, the report states. She was aggressive and tried to pull away when authorities tried to handcuff her.

Crozier, of 4220 Sheldon Drive in New Port Richey, was arrested on charges of grand theft and resisting arrest. She was released from the Land O'Lakes jail on $2,150 bail.
