TAMPA — A Newsome High School teacher was arrested Friday morning for driving under the influence after she got into a traffic accident, according to an arrest report.
Deputies arrested Patricia Rene Thompson, 49, when they were called at 10:20 a.m. to a crash at 78th Street and Causeway Boulevard. When deputies arrived, Thompson had slurred speech and failed field sobriety tests, the report said. Jail records show she had a blood alcohol level of .086/.087. State law presumes a driver impaired at .08.
She was being held at the Orient Road jail on $500 bond.
