Officers searching for armed robber in Tampa

TAMPA — Police were searching for a man Thursday who robbed another at gunpoint in an apartment complex.

Algernon Belin, 50, was approached by the armed man at 1280 E 113th Ave. The robber stole Belin's cash and ran away, police said.

Belin reported the robbery to police, who identified the suspect as Jett Gilmore, 26, of Tampa. Officers searched his home, but Gilmore could not be found, police said.

    Snooty, who was the world's oldest living manatee, died in an accident, the South Florida Museum announced Sunday afternoon.

    Snooty, the Manatee County mascot, turns 60 on Monday. Hundreds of people came to the Parker Manatee Aquarium to see Snooty at his birthday party on Saturday. He was the first manatee to have a recorded birth date on July 21, 1948.
