Palm Harbor man accused of sexually abusing autistic woman

DUNEDIN — A Palm Harbor man sexually abused an autistic 21-year-old woman multiple times early Wednesday, authorities say.

Johnathan R. Wilson, 48, was arrested after Pinellas County sheriff's deputies received a complaint from a home in Dunedin about 2:45 a.m.

When deputies arrived, Wilson and the victim were together, said sheriff's spokeswoman Cecilia Barreda.

Wilson faces a felony charge of sexual battery of a mentally defective person.

Wilson knew the victim was autistic, and forced himself onto her on two separate occasions, deputies say. Authorities would not say how the two knew each other. They declined to identify her because of the nature of the crime.

Wilson was being held Tuesday afternoon in lieu of $50,000 bail.
