A Pasco County bus assistant was charged with child abuse Friday after authorities say he slapped a special needs student across the face.
James R. Lambert, 57, of Hudson was riding on a school bus along with students when a 10-year-old with autism began yelling profanities, the Pasco Sheriff's Office said.
Lambert screamed at the student and walked to the back of the bus. He then smacked the child on the left side of the face with his open hand, deputies said.
The incident was caught on video.
