Pasco deputies respond to shooting, find meth lab

ODESSA — Deputies responding on Monday morning to a call of a person shot found a methamphetamine lab near an Odessa home, authorities said.

Richard Johnson, 23, was shot in the leg and suffering a non-life-threatening injury, said Pasco Sheriff's Office spokesman Kevin Doll.

Johnson, who was released in January from prison for aggravated assault with a weapon, is not cooperating with investigators, so deputies have not found the shooter, Doll said. He would not comment on a motive for the shooting.

While investigating the shooting at 14442 Bella Bella Lane, detectives found a meth lab in an outdoor shed, which a 5-year-old child had access to, a Sheriff's Office report states.

The home's resident, Brandy Johnson, 28, was arrested and charged with possession of chemicals for manufacturing controlled substances and child neglect. She is being held at the Pasco jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Richard Johnson was treated at a local hospital, Doll said. Doll said Richard Johnson is not related to Brandy Johnson.

The child was taken into protective custody, the report states.
