LAND O'LAKES — An Indiana man faces an attempted murder charge after Pasco deputies say he tried to kill a 90-year-old woman inside a car Thursday night.
Eric Moore, 46, of Indianapolis was in a car with Irene Parish. Another woman, who was not identified, was driving the car, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office. Moore was employed by the 90-year-old woman, who is a business partner of the driver.
Moore, who was drinking alcohol inside the vehicle, got into an argument with Parish and pulled her hair, slammed her head against the window and choked her with a chain, investigators said. Parish told authorities she thought Moore was trying to kill her.
The driver pulled into a RaceTrac gas station at 23390 State Road 54, where deputies took Moore into custody on a charge of disorderly intoxication. Meanwhile, Parish and the driver drove to their home in Hernando County, then called that county's Sheriff's Office. Parish was taken to a hospital, where doctors determined she had sustained severe head, neck and facial injuries and even had bleeding on the brain, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Parish remained in the intensive care unit Friday and was stable, the Sheriff's Office said.
On Friday, deputies added the attempted murder charge to Moore, who was already in the Land O'Lakes Detention Center. After he was arrested, Moore said he was trying to subdue Parish.
Moore's first appearance in front of a judge was scheduled for this morning.
