Pasco deputies searching for Zephyrhills bank robber

ZEPHYRHILLS — A man robbed the Sunshine State Bank on Wednesday morning with a small bag he claimed contained a bomb.

The robber fled with an undisclosed amount of cash — and left the bag on the bank counter, prompting officials to evacuate the building at 36450 Eiland Blvd. and call in the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office bomb squad. The deputies determined there was no bomb inside the bag, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male 40-45 years of age, 5 foot 6 inches tall, medium build, dark hair and dark shirt, wearing jeans and a black hat. He was last seen heading westbound on foot.

Anyone with information may call the Pasco County Sheriff's Office at (727) 844-7711.
