Pasco deputies: Sweetbay employee had sticky fingers

Deputies: Ex-Sweetbay employee stole $2,500

A former Sweetbay Supermarket employee is accused of stealing nearly $2,500 while on the job. Allison E. Schultz, 28, was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand theft.

Authorities say that in May and June, Schultz pocketed $2,029 of customers' Western Union payments and also gave herself $408 in bogus returned merchandise transactions. Pasco sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said the investigation was sparked when Western Union began getting complaints from customers who showed up to get their money and were told the payments had already been picked up.

Schultz, of 30244 Clearview Drive in Wesley Chapel, is now listed as "unemployed" on her arrest report. She was released Tuesday from the Pasco jail on $2,000 bail.
