Pasco jail deputies intercept father's postcard to stepson

LAND O'LAKES – The postcard didn't have a long trip — just between housing units at the Land O'Lakes Jail.

The fatherly advice Kenneth Dean Thomas offered his stepson: "keep (your) mouth shut and you know the drill," according to a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report.

Deputies intercepted the postcard before it made it to the 17-year-old stepson, whose name is being withheld because of his age.

The stepson landed in jail Sept. 28 after a string of auto thefts, Pasco sheriff's deputies say, and running a chop shop out of a storage unit.

Thomas, 51, has been in the jail since June on charges of assaulting the boy. By court order, he is prohibited from communicating with his stepson, authorities said.

Thomas was charged this week with violating a domestic no-contact order. He remains at Land O'Lakes Jail in lieu of $6,000 bail from his previous charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.
