Pasco man accused of draining grandfather's bank account

HUDSON — A 28-year-old is accused of stealing $4,237 from his 83-year-old grandfather.

Keith R. Hilburn was charged Monday with exploitation of the elderly. Hilburn, who lived with his grandfather in Hudson, was already in the Pasco jail when he was charged.

He was arrested Thursday for failing to appear in court on theft charges.

Hilburn, who is unemployed, told his grandfather he was spending the money to pay household bills, but he never paid any, a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report states.

The fraud was discovered by Hilburn's father after the victim was hospitalized in January. The electricity in the home was about to be shut off and the grandfather's bank account was overdrawn by $513.

Hilburn is being held in lieu of $10,513 bail at the Land O'Lakes jail.
