Just after 5 p.m. Friday, someone dropped off a man with a gunshot wound at Pasco Regional Hospital.

Reggie Reshawn Adams, 20, died soon after.

Pasco County sheriff's officials have released little information about their investigation into his shooting.

"We're still trying to find out where (Adams) was shot in the first place," said spokeswoman Melanie Snow. She declined to say whether detectives knew or had contacted the people who brought him to the hospital.

Rumors of what happened have circled wildly among Adams' friends and relatives.

"We really don't know what happened," said Adams' aunt, Ruby Myers, via phone from her home in El Paso, Texas. "They're saying he was an innocent bystander. The rumors are that he was with his uncle."

Adams, who has no criminal record, is from Dade City and attended Pasco High School, according to his Facebook page. He has been living in El Paso since August. He returned to Florida this week to watch his sister graduate high school.

He moved to El Paso after graduating high school and enrolled in an auto trade school, his aunt said. He had a girlfriend, Lilani Newhouse, and they were expecting a child.

"He did what he had to do to help Lilani," Myers said. "Now that baby will never know what he looks like."
