Pasco sex offender accused of exposing himself to kids

NEW PORT RICHEY — A 69-year-old sex offender is accused of fondling himself while he watched children from his apartment window.

James Charles Sorensen, of 5743 Tennessee Ave. in New Port Richey, was arrested Monday. He is charged with lewd and lascivious exhibition and two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition while in the presence of a child under the age of 16.

A 21-year-old neighbor called the authorities after she said she saw Sorensen nude and touching himself inside his apartment while watching a 9-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy through his open window.

The 9-year-old girl told investigators with the New Port Richey Police Department that Sorensen waved at her while he touched himself, a report states. Sorensen denied exposing and fondling himself in front of the children, authorities said.

Sorensen was convicted of second degree sexual assault of a child in Wisconsin in 1992, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. He is being held at the Pasco jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
